Lionspeed GP has switched to the SP9 Pro class for today’s Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie season opener, the 71st ADAC Westfalenfahrt.
The German squad’s #24 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) Evo will feature a star-studded line-up of Porsche factory drivers Laurens Vanthoor and Laurin Heinrich, and Porsche contracted driver Ricardo Feller.
Both 2015 24H Nürburgring winner Vanthoor, and Heinrich, are new to Lionspeed, whilst 2024 N24 winner Feller raced for the team in GT World Challenge Europe last season.
Lionspeed GP joins what is now a five-car Porsche contingent in SP9 Pro,alongside Manthey, Dinamic GT, Dunlop Motorsport and Falken Motorsport. The #24 Porsche was previously listed in SP9 Pro-Am, with Team Principal Patrick Kolb the only named driver.
Lionspeed is also fielding its #980 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport today, as part of its A-Permit programme, which was famously utilised by Max Verstappen last year. The car will be driven by Wright Motorsports regular Adam Adelson and DTM veteran Jamie Green.
Adelson is new to the Nordschleife, whilst Green last raced at the venue in 2020, and therefore has seen his A Permit expire.
Elsewhere, Winward Racing has elected to postpone its return to NLS competition. The Mercedes-AMG squad has withdrawn its pair of factory-supported AMG GT3 EVOs from today’s race, due to the weather conditions at the circuit. Overnight snow, freezing temperatures and low-lying fog have seen qualifying postponed, but the race is still set to go ahead.
