Four-Time GT500 Champion Tsuboi To Take On NLS2 With KCMG

Four-time Super GT GT500 drivers’ champion Sho Tsuboi is set to make his top-class debut at the Nürburgring Nordschleife this weekend, with KCMG.

Tsuboi will share the Hong Kong-based outfit’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO in SP9 Pro/Am with David Pittard, Jesse Krohn and fellow SP9 debutant Nirei Fukuzumi, during Saturday’s Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie event.

Toyota factory drivers Tsuboi and Fukuzumi earned their Nordschleife Permit As with KCMG last season, aboard a Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo.

Tsuboi has won the GT500 title in four of the past five years with TGR Team au TOM’s, and is also the 2024 Super Formula champion.

“This will be my second time at this iconic track, and my maiden appearance in GT3 machinery there, so I think it’ll be a brilliant opportunity to gain valuable experience,” said the 30-year-old.

“I’m really looking forward to racing in such a great environment with KCMG. I want to understand what driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the Nürburgring feels like and steadily build up my mileage during the race.”

Fukuzumi, meanwhile, is a race winner in both Super GT and Super Formula, and joined Toyota from Honda at the beginning of 2024. The 29-year-old has competed for KCMG in Super Formula for the past two years, but switched to Rookie Racing for 2026.

“I’m very happy to have this opportunity to race with KCMG in NLS,” Fukuzumi said. “It will be my first time driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3, having only competed at the Nürburgring once before, so there is still a lot for me to discover. I’ve got some experienced teammates to learn from and I’m looking forward to enjoying this opportunity with the team.”

NLS2 is set to be KCMG’s first race with its new AMG GT3 EVO (https://www.dailysportscar.com/2026/03/12/team-kcmg-confirm-2026-nurburgring-programme-with-mercedes-amg.html), as it builds towards an assault on the ADAC 24H Nürburgring in May.

Team Manager Matt Howson said: “The first test for KCMG with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 last week was very encouraging, there is still a lot to learn, and we head into NLS2 with the priority being to build on our knowledge of the car and allowing our drivers to do the same.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Sho Tsuboi and Nirei Fukuzumi back to the Nürburgring with KCMG for their SP9 debut, and together with David and Jesse’s experience and speed, we can continue to grow in strength race by race.”

NLS2, the 58th ADAC Barbarossapreis, will be held on Saturday 21st March 2026.
