Prodrive Announces ‘British Racing Orange’ BMMC Partnership

Prodrive and the British Motorsports Marshals Club have entered into a new three-year partnership, under the tagline of ‘British Racing Orange’.

The partnership will see Prodrive, which recently celebrated its 25th Le Mans appearance with a podium finish in LMGT3, provide ongoing support to the BMMC to help it continue its work in allowing motorsport to go ahead across the UK.

The BMMC, which was formed in 1957, currently represents over 3000 marshals.

‘British Racing Orange’ was selected as a way through which to raise awareness of marshals, and create a stronger connection between them and the sport, through the iconic colour which they’ve become associated to.

“Motorsport simply wouldn’t happen without marshals,” said Prodrive chairman David Richards. “They are the backbone of our sport, giving their time, commitment and passion to ensure events run safely and successfully.

“At motorsport events across the country, you are far more likely to see orange than green. That got us thinking about the colour most closely associated with British motorsport at every level — and the answer is the colour worn by the marshals who make our sport possible.”

Chris Hobson, chair of the BMMC, added: “Marshals are one of the most visible and vital parts of motorsport. Our partnership with Prodrive will help us continue training and equipping marshals, helping them stay safe every time they are trackside. By working together, we can inspire more people to discover marshalling and join the BMMC.”
