Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Wins 1000th Race

Last Friday at Mugello, Vincent Iogna won from pole position in the Ultimate GT Sprint Cup, and with it claimed the 1000th win for Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing.

Launched in 2010, the AMG Customer Racing programme has gone on to become a major success for the three-pointed star, with its seven consecutive GT World Challenge manufacturers’ titles, and outright victories in all the major GT3-headlined events on the calendar, acting as proof of its strength and depth.

The first win came in the VLN Endurance Championship in October 2010, when Christopher Haase and Thomas Jäger won aboard a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, with the 100th victory being achieved under three years later as Maximilian Bukh, Maximilian Götz and Bernd Schneider triumphed at the 2013 24 Hours of Spa with HTP Motorsport.

This was the first of two 24 Hours of Spa wins for Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing, with three Nürburgring 24 Hours, four Bathurst 12 Hour and five FIA GT World Cup wins also amongst its major achievements.

The SLS AMG GT3 was succeeded by the AMG GT3 in 2016, with this car receiving an Evo kit in 2019, whilst expansion to Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing has come in the form of GT4 and GT2 products in 2017 and 2022 respectively.

Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing’s most successful year to-date was 2024, when it won 120 times.

The 500th win was achieved by Team Abba Racing’s Richard and Sam Neary in the British-based GT Cup Championship in May 2021, with this one of 43 overall victories Richard Neary has scored with AMG Customer Racing, the most of any individual driver ahead of Kenneth Heyer (38) and Maro Engel (37).

SR Motorsport by Schnitzelam has claimed the most of any individual team, 64, which puts it ahead of two of the marque’s leading GT3 performance operations over the years, Winward Racing (48) and Auto Sport Promotion (47).

62% of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing’s wins have been achieved in Europe, with 195 triumphs in Germany alone, including 88 at the Nürburgring. Three tracks share the honour of being its second most-successful venue, with 32 wins each recorded at the Algarve, Hockenhiemring and Oschersleben.

“This milestone is a testament to the impressive track record of our Customer Racing Programme and fills us with great joy and pride,” said Stefan Wendl, head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing.

“Since its launch in 2010, the programme has been built up with great passion and has been continuously developed. 1,000 victories across 34 countries are a testament to the international strength and sustainable growth of our Customer Racing Programme. The sporting successes achieved on racetracks around the world are above all thanks to our Customer Racing Teams and the many drivers who compete with Mercedes-AMG racing cars internationally. At the same time, this anniversary success motivates us to continue writing the success story of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport.”

The 1000th win has come as Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing nears the end of a significant chapter in its story. The AMG GT3 has won an incredible 612 races, but is now a decade-old, with the arrival of its replacement drawing ever-closer. The next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT3 having been testing since October 2025, and is set to begin racing next year.
