ADAC Nordrhein has announced plans for a new championship based on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with the ADAC 24H Nürburgring Series set to launch in 2027.
The inaugural season is set to be made up of six races across five events, all run according to the regulations of the 24H Nürburgring and on the 24-hour variant of the famous Nordschleife, which skips the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The calendar will include a new 24H Nürburgring Prologue, as well as the traditional 24H Nürburgring Qualifiers and ADAC 24H Nürburgring itself. The season will then conclude with the ADAC Eifelrennen and ADAC 1000km.
Teams registered for the new series will benefit from a reduced entry fee and guaranteed starting place at the 24H Nürburgring.
“We are thereby responding to the wishes of many teams who wanted compact and targeted preparation for the ‘race of the year’ on the Nürburgring Nordschleife,” explained Walter Hornung, sporting director of ADAC Nordrhein.
“At the same time, this allows us to extend the extremely positive development of the 24h Nürburgring over the past few years to other events, which will be organised entirely along the lines of the 24h.”
This ADAC 24H Nürburgring Series is a direct competitor to the long-established Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS, formerly VLN), which has included the ADAC 24H Qualifiers on its calendar in recent years.
In a statement provided to DSC, the NLS said: “We have taken note of ADAC Nordrhein’s plans. We cannot welcome this move, as we view motorsport on the Nordschleife as a shared endeavour that requires solidarity. Regardless of this, we remain firmly focused on our goal: to provide endurance racing on the Nordschleife with an affordable and attractive platform for participants, teams and fans.”
The NLS’ monopoly on regular GT and touring car racing at the Nürburgring was last challenged in 2024, when the Nürburgring Endurance Series failed to get off the ground.

- Round 1: 24h Nürburgring Prologue (2/3 April 2027)
- Round 2: 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers (30 April/2 May 2027)
- Round 3: ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (27/30 May 2027)
- Round 4: ADAC Eifelrennen (30 July/1 August 2027)
- Round 5: ADAC 1000km Race (10/12 September 2027)
