GTWC Europe Updates Portimao Timetable Due To New FIA WEC Calendar

GT World Challenge Europe has issued an updated timetable for its 2026 finale at Portimao, to avoid a direct clash with the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Barcelona.

The three-hour Endurance Cup race was previously set to directly overlap with the newly-scheduled FIA WEC round on Sunday 18th October, but has been moved to Saturday evening to allow personnel scheduled to compete in both events to pull double-duty.

Amongst those who contest both series are AF Corse, Garage 59 and Team WRT, as well as over a dozen drivers, including all three members of the #10 Garage 59 McLaren FIA WEC trio.

Both Free Practice sessions in Portimao, as well as Qualifying, will now take place on Friday 16th October, with Qualifying starting at 17:55 WEST.

The race will then begin at 17:00 WEST on Saturday, meaning that the season will end under the cover of darkness, with official sunset at 18:53 WEST.

The official timetable for the 6 Hours of Barcelona is yet to be published, although the event is set to follow the standard FIA WEC format of a pair of Free Practice sessions on Friday, FP3 and Qualifying on Saturday, and the six-hour race on Sunday.
