Mirko Bortolotti has been disqualified from the second DTM race at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, losing what was the first-ever victory for the Lamborghini Temerario GT3.
Post-race, Bortolotti’s #63 TGI Team by GRT entry was found to have a wheel bearing not in compliance with the 2026 DTM Homologation of the Temerario.
TGI Team by GRT argued to the Stewards that in former and other events a modification of the wheel bearing is allowed and that they forgot to exchange them for the relevant DTM event, citing the still-downloadable 2024 DTM sporting regulations as one example as to where the modification is still permitted.
Nevertheless, the Stewards decided that the modification is not allowed and as such disqualified Bortolotti’s #63 Lamborghini from the race, subject to an appeal from Gottfried Grasser’s outfit.
It is the second time in 2026 that the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 has lost its maiden victory to a post-race penalty. Marco Mapelli won DTM Race 1 at the Lausitzring on the road, but received a 15-second time penalty for speeding during a Full Course Yellow, demoting him to second.
The first win for the Temerario GT3 is now, therefore, Pfaff Motorsports’ GTD Pro success earlier this month at Road America in IMSA’s Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix, although the wait for an overall triumph continues.
Bortolotti’s penalty means that Mercedes-AMG Team Ravenol’s Maro Engel has inherited the race win at Oschersleben, boosting his DTM drivers’ championship lead to 25 points over Comtoyou Racing’s Nicki Thiim ahead of this weekend’s round at the Nürburgring.
2023 champion Thomas Preining is also a major beneficiary, with the Porsche factory driver now only four points behind Thiim having been promoted to second position.
