Daytona, Road Atlanta Added To 2027 Mustang Challenge North America Calendar

Fourth season of Ford's one-make series adds two new venues

Over the past three years, the Ford Mustang Challenge series has given Mustang enthusiasts the chance to saddle up in a track-ready Dark Horse R, a car that bridges the gap between the production Dark Horse and the Mustang GT4 race car.

Coming into Mustang Challenge North America’s fourth season, Ford Racing will be bringing the series to six of North America’s finest racing venues.

The season will open with a race at Daytona International Speedway as part of the Roar Before the 24 on 22–24 January. This is a change from the past two years, when the season would kick off at Sebring International Raceway.

Instead, Sebring will be the second stop on the schedule during the iconic Twelve Hours of Sebring race weekend, on 17-20 March. Racing at Sebring has been a staple for the young series and is sure to draw eyes once again next season.

The midpoint of the season will come at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 30 April-2 May for the third consecutive year. The stampede of Dark Horse R’s will take on the famous “Corkscrew” before pausing for a “global invitational pause” until August. This ensures that competitors looking to compete in the 2027 Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational have plenty of time to get their personnel and equipment to the Ardennes Rollercoaster and back without affecting their full-time championship plans.

Mustang Challenge will begin the second half of the season at VIRginia International Raceway on 20-22 August during IMSA WeatherTech’s GT-only race weekend.

For the penultimate round, Mustang Challenge will head to Austin for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Lone Star Le Mans race at Circuit of The Americas, on 10–12 September. This will be an exciting weekend for the American manufacturer, as the Ford Hypercar will make its first racing appearance in the United States.

The season finale is set for the beloved Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta circuit as part of the Petit Le Mans event weekend on 7–9 October. This will be a brand-new track for Mustang Challenge competitors to conquer, providing an exciting layer of unknowns to the final race of the 2027 season.
