Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific (PMAP), Absolute Racing, and AO Racing took their leading pair of Porsche 911 GT3 Rs through Tokyo ahead of next weekend’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Suzuka 1000km.
It began with the two Absolute Racing cars arriving in Tokyo on Wednesday evening to be exhibited for three days at Porsche Studio Ginza.
The #8 AO by Absolute Racing entry was a particular hit as fans got their first up-close look at “Bushi Rex” before Rexy’s samurai ancestor returns to Suzuka. Indeed, at least one attendee was seen taking pictures of the car with their Rexy plush toy.
This was then followed by a Saturday night stroll through the most vibrant parts of Tokyo.
Following a stop at the A PIT Autobacs Shinonome (a flagship in a new concept of department store-type spaces for the Japanese auto parts giant), the two Porsches made stops in the bustling Shibuya, the “electric town” of Akihabara, before returning to the luxurious Ginza.
Bushi Rex himself even made an appearance to the delight of several young fans along the way!
Since the return of the Suzuka 1000km in 2025, the Spa-inspired city parade through Suzuka’s streets from the circuit to nearby ÆON Mall has yet to return as a pre-race event to engage the local crowd – so credit to PMAP and Absolute for taking the initiative in putting together this promotional tour of its cars through Tokyo.
