LMGT3 Teams’ Trophy Points System Revised For 2027

The FIA has announced that the WEC’s LMGT3 Teams’ Trophy points system is being the revised for 2027.

Under the new format, results from both cars will count towards a single LMGT3 Teams’ classification next year.

Currently, each car in a two-car team scores points independently as a separate entry.

According to the FIA, “The revised format places greater emphasis on overall team performance.”

This year’s LMGT3 class features nine partner teams representing nine manufacturers, each with two full-season cars.

An FIA Spokesperson has confirmed to DSC that the rules will still allow for individual cars to be entered under their own banner (such as ‘The Bend Manthey’ or ‘Racing Team Turkey by TF’) and score Teams’ Trophy points going forward.

“The wording of the Competitor’s licence submitted may be followed by an additional commercial wording,” the rule states.

“This complete wording will be used on official documents. (With the exception of the FIA Endurance Team Trophy classification, where only the wording of the Competitor’s licence will be used).”
