Coming hot off their Spa 24 Hours victory, Maxes Buhk and Götz headed the entry for last Sunday’s fourth weekend of the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring in their Polarweis Mercedes SLS. Mercedes, the 2012 champion, has been winless so far this year, but solid podium performances have put them sixth in the standings. “I hope we can carry on riding this wave of success,” says Buhk.
Motors TV UK is showing both one-hour races in full on the short ‘Ring tonight (Wednesday), presented by Mark Cole and Carlton Kirby, starting at 21.00 BST.
Chevrolets have annexed both poles, Diego Alessi in Race 1 from Danish Porsche junior Michael Christensen (Herberth Motorsport), and Jeroen Bleekemloen in Race 2 from BMW’s Dominic Baumann. Underlining how well the balance of performance works for this GT3 series, the top 12 cars in Race 1 are covered by just 0.999s; in Race 2 it is the top 18 cars!
Leading the points as they come to the halfway point of the season are Prosperia Abt Audi pairing Christopher Mies and Rene Rast, from Baumann and his Schubert Z4 partner Claudia Hürtgen. No sooner had the chequered fallen on Race 2, than the teams were on the road for Austria and the Red Bull Ring for Round 5 this weekend, the first time in the series seven-year history that there have been back-to-back races.
