Audi Swap Cars After Mechanical Issue Yesterday
Audi Sport have exchanged cars for track action today after the R18 running yesterday suffered a front suspension failure with Andrew Lotterer at the wheel. Lotterer returned to the pits without assistance after the #7 car spun.
The replacement car will still run as #7 today.
ACO/ WEC in Conciliatory (but Firm) Tone Over F1 calendar
After the furore over a pair of broken promises from Formula One over a calendar clash with the Le Mans 24 Hours and some later reported irritation from FIA WEC CEO Gerard Neveu at the move, the tone from both Neveu and ACO President Pierre Fillon was somewhat more conciliatory when asked today about the issue.
Fillon pointed towards the discussion at the latest meeting of the World Motorsport Council where FIA Endurance Commission Chairman Sir Lindsay Owen Jones apparently made a rather impassioned contribution urging his colleagues to avoid such a situation in the future.
Gerard Neveu added that he felt it was only proper that world class professional drivers should be able to take part in additional world class events where time allowed and that with 60 cars on the Le Mans grid, and c.32 on the FIA WEC grids there was plenty of available opportunity to make that happen.
“The Le Mans 24 Hours is not going anywhere!” said Mr Fillon when asked about the potential for future clashes.
Weather Plays The Game
The weather has bee glorious at Paul Ricard almost throughout the week here with just an hour of rain at the end of the final ELMS track session on Wednesday.
