Seb Morris and Rick Parfitt Jnr guided the Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental GT to their maiden victory together and delivering Bentley a first ever British GT win too. In GT4, Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson took their third win of the season, the second of the weekend, after Anna Walewska crashed while leading the class in her Century Ginetta, bringing out a red flag that brought the race to a premature end.
The Bentley pair overcame the 5s penalty for finishing third to claim a first win of the season, and deliver a sizeable 10s victory over Alasdair McCaig and Rob Bell’s Black Bull Ecurie Ecosse McLaren 650s GT3. Taking the final spot on the podium was Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen in the Demon Tweeks liveried Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
It was a dominant performance from the pole-sitting Bentley and in the first half of the race, McLaren factory ace, Rob Bell couldn’t find the pace to prevent Morris getting the margin needed to put his team-mate in the lead. Behind them it was very orderly, and the Beechdean-AMR resided in third for the majority of the race until it was given a Stop/Go penalty for taking a short pit stop during the mandatory stops, demoting Andrew Howard to sixth, but elevating Jon Minshaw (Barwell Lamborghini), championship leader Derek Johnston (TF Sport), and Liam Griffin (Barwell Lamborghini) into the top five.
The GT4 class saw a second successive victory for the Optimum pairing, but the story would’ve been different had it not been for Walewska’s late race off. The Century driver looked at ease in the lead, but Johnston and Robinson inherited the win ahead of the Ebor GT pairing Marcus Hoggarth and Abbie Eaton.
Hoggarth missed Saturday’s practice and qualifying due to a family wedding, but came back with a show of strength, working hard after Eaton got the Gran Turismo into the top three during the PRO stint. Finishing in third place on his debut in British GT, was Aaron Mason in the car he shares with Rob Barrable.
