Sepang 12 Hours Grid Forming

Manthey confirms star-studded two-car entry

This year’s Sepang 12 Hours in December is set to have another healthy grid of cars across the GT and Touring Car classes, with plenty of teams now having confirmed their efforts and driver lineups.

Here’s a run down of all the newly announced teams which are set to take part:

The biggest news is that Porsche will bring an all-factory driver lineup with Manthey Racing entering a pair of Porsche 911 GT3Rs.

2015 Le Mans winners Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy will be joined by Patrick Pilet on the #911 car, while Richard Lietz, Michael Christensen and Fred Makowiecki will be at the wheel of the #912.

A trio of Ferraris have also been confirmed, with AF Corse (Spirit of Race), T2 Motorsport and Naza Nexus all bringing GT3 cars bearing the Prancing Horse to the race.

Thai driver Pasin Lathouras, the winner of the Pro-Am category in the 2015 Total 24 Hours of Spa, wants to add another prestigious title to his already impressive list of successes with AF Corse’s confirmed 488. Judging by the talent of his co-drivers – Italians Michele Rugolo and Alessandro Pier Guidi – the Spirit of Race Ferrari will certainly be among the frontrunners. Pier Guidi has experience at the event, leading the early stages of the race last year.

Meanwhile, T2 Motorsport will also be bringing a 488 GT3 to the part. The squad acquired the car in August and with the help of AF Corse, the car will make its debut in the Sepang 12 Hours. At the wheel will be Am drivers Greg Teo from Singapore and Indonesian David Tjiptobiantoro – both regular podium finishers in the Ferrari Asia Pacific Challenge – who will be joined by Italian Christian Colombo.

The third and final Ferrari confirmed is a 458 GT3 from Naza Nexus, which last year managed to run in a top-10 position all through the race. The team’s complete driver lineup will be announced shortly.

Three other non-GT3 cars are also due to enter, the first being a Toyota GT86 from amuse & SPV Racing in the TC category. and a Lexus RC530 for the GT4/S class.

B-Quik has confirmed its return to the race this year too, with an Audi R8 LMS Cup with Peter Kox and Henk Kiks confirmed as drivers.

And finally the Jim Hunter Motorsport Subaru is entering a TC class Impreza. Team owner Jim Hunter along with fellow drivers Grant Johnson, Andrew McPherson and Allan Letcher will share driving duties.
