Andrew Howard and Jonny Adam took a dramatic second British GT race at Snetterton, which was restarted after a violent shunt that took out the Astons of John Gaw and Andy Schulz and the BMW of Luke Hines. Fortunately, all three drivers were unhurt, but the barrier repairs meant that the race distance was reduced to 55 minutes and would restart an hour after the original start time.
Adam made full use of the single-file restart (behind the Safety Car) to immediately pull out a gap to the pursuing Adam Carroll in the repaired #18 Ferrari, who defended his place right up to the Pit-window.
After the stops, Howard found himself with a sizeable lead that he was comfortably able to manage in the #1 Beechdean Aston to the flag. Gary Eastwood made up for the disappointment of Race 1 with a sound run to second, while Paul White and Tom Onslow-Cole were able to celebrate their first podium with third in the #21 Strata21 Aston.
In GT4, an early retirement for the Lotus left Dan Cammish leading in the #44 Porsche. After the stops, Ade Barwick found himself leading in the #46 Twisted Team Parker Ginetta and was able to stay there until the flag to take his and Bradley Ellis’ second win of the year. Tom Oliphant and Rick Parfitt Jr looked to have retired with gear selection problems before the pitlane, but they fought back to second despite the issue not being fully resolved and despite severe pressure from Century teammates Morten Dons and Aleksander Schjerpen.
The championship next moves on to Spa-Francorchamps in three-weeks’ time for the final double-header of the season.
