EBM Giga Racing were a welcome surprise addition to the Test Day entry. The DSC Editor caught up with Earl Bamber at Spa this morning who is set to announce a significant programme for the team at Spa and other IGTC events, whilst the EBM team are also planning a further GT race programme for later in 2021.
Their Spa test got off to a shaky start though with engine woes very early in the first session counting them out of track action for the remainder of Tuesday, with a new motor delivered though the team are out on Wednesday for a hoped-for full day of running.
BMW’s new M4 GT3 made its first ‘public’ track appearance yesterday in the hands of Augusto Farfus, the car appearing both as part of BMW’s marketing efforts for their new customer GT3 product and as part of the preparation for the Balance of Performance process required for its entry into competition in 2022.
The same car is set to compete in its first race this weekend in the SPX class (for non-homologated cars) in the NLS at the Nürburgring
Orange 1 FFF Racing Team have added Honda Super GT racer Bertrand Baguette to the driver line-up for the # 19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the Spa 24 Hours. The Belgian racer is present at the Test Days together with Phil Keen and Hiroshi Hamaguchi.
It will be Baguette’s seventh run at the 24 Hours of Spa, a race special to him as Spa is only a few kilometres away from his hometown, Verviers.
The #24 Car Collection Audi left Spa yesterday after suffering damage in the first session at Raidillon that could not be repaired at the circuit.
The Spa 24 Hours is the latest event to be rebranded with the new Totalenergies brand.
