DTM organisers ITR have presented the latest stage in their planned DTM Electric series, now planned for 2023 rather than the initially intended 2022 start and as a separate series alongside the current DTM.
ITR, together with series’ partners Schaeffler and MAHLE unveiled a 1:1 ‘DTM Electric Design Model’ at the Norisring of the prototype for the race series, the plan would be to have a spec chassis with the ability of participants to style the car as they wish.
Of course, participants in DTM Electric will have the possibility to adapt the chassis with their specific design characteristics.
The future DTM Electric cars will feature single-wheel electric drives from Schaeffler, featuring infinitely variable torque distribution. The Space Drive rack-free steering system will be installed. Innovative thermal management solutions by MAHLE are designed to address the complex cooling of the drive components in competition.
The predicted performance should see over 1,000 horsepower and top speeds of well over 300 km/h.

The next step will be to combine the performance as we know it from the Demo Car with the looks of the Design Model.”
