With the FIA GT World Cup not taking place this year once again, the Sands China Macau GT Cup reverts to a local entry only with 19 cars, all with mainland Chinese, Hong Kong or Macau-based drivers.
18 of the 19 are GT3 runners with a sole Porsche Cup entry added to GT3 machinery from Audi (5), Aston Martin (2), BMW (1), Lamborghini (4), Mercedes AMG (4) and Porsche (2).
Amongst the more internationally known racers this year are Alexandre Imperatori (#20 Meidong Racing Porsche), Marchy Lee (#38 Uno Racing Team Aston Martin) and Darryl O’Young (#95 Craft Bamboo Mercedes AMG).
There’s no shortage of regional talent either including GT World Challenge Asia race winner Leo Ye in his Toro Racing-entered Porsche (pictured below)
The race card also includes the Macau Greater Bay Area GT Cup for GT4 and one-make cars, this race is again an all-Chinese affair with a 20 car grid.
