Dubai Paddock Notes: Part 1, LMP2

Back into the sunshine of Dubai after a massive 4 weeks away (after the 24H Dubai) with the Asian Le Mans Series grid assembling and 36 of the 37 cars already garaged and in prep. for the rapid-fire season starting this weekend and continuing to a conclusion next weekend at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi.

The 37th car is here btw, Graff Racing yet to unload their LMP2 Oreca.  The team is though confirmed for a full ELMS season with the same driver crew as here in Asia.

The lodgings for the Asian LMS team this year have quite the view!

LMP2

As reported earlier on DSC, Nielsen Racing have revealed the livery for their #4 ORECA and have confirmed that they will contest the full 2022 European Le Mans Series with the same driver crew, Rodrigo Sales, Matt Bell and Ben Hanley.

This is the first full-season in LMP2 for the team after a one-off Le Mans appearance in 2020 earned with an auto-invitation via their Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 championship win, the team running a rented Algarve Pro car for that run.

The 2022 campaign features a new car.

High Class Racing meanwhile are in good shape too, Anders Fjordbach back on duty after missing the Kyalami 9 Hours last weekend following a positive COVID test after the Rolex 24 Hours.  With a full IMSA season already committed to this is the only confirmed ACO series programme for the Danish-flagged, Barcelona-based team.

And ARC Bratislava’s Ligier JS P217 is now all but confirmed as the only non-Oreca LMP2 entry anywhere in 2022, this following a note from our friends at KEO Racing confirming that they have not entered the ELMS this season in their Dallara P217.
