Algarve Pro Racing
For some more than others, the ongoing efforts at Algarve Pro Racing include a replacement set of pit shelters, their primary kit branded with now debarred G-Drive. For now, the team’s pit set-up has no weather cover at all.
The #45 car has permission to miss the all-grid photograph programmed for tomorrow with the car set to be re-liveried after the Prologue into a sky blue-based scheme.
Project 1 Close In On Replacement Porsche
There are a number of available options for the #56 Project 1 team Porsche effort to get back on track, discussions have been had with Proton Competition, but their spare cars are all believed to be in Europe and the added logistical issues and expense of re shuffling cars that are allotted to ELMS duties are not insubstantial
There is an unused 911 RSR on site, because GR Racing’s team kit and car did arrive here, that then comes down to a decision on whether the car owner wishes to rent the Porsche to Project 1 and whether the cost can make any vague sort of economic sense.
The incident that befell the #56, and in particular the damage to the rear of the car is understood to have been exacerbated by an out of position concrete barrier section, the Porsche apparently running backwards along the barrier line until it impacted an exposed edge. The barrier has now been repositioned DSC understands.
Plans Crystallise For Dempsey Proton
There’s plenty more going on at Dempsey Proton Racing with Memo Gidley testing in the #77 car, this is believed to be a test ahead of a potential run at Le Mans in the WeatherTech Racing Porsche, now Bronze-ranked the test marks another significant set forward for Gidley who drove strongly in the IMSA Prototype Challenge race at the Roar test at Daytona.
The #88 crew sees the return to the WEC of Patrick Lindsey, though he may miss Le Mans due to work commitments with his thriving air charter business.
Also seen here are Jan Heylen, working here with Fred Poordad, both will drive today, though Heylen will focus on his Wright Motorsport IMSA drive next week, but looks set to race in the #88 for the remainder of the 2022 FIA WEC.
Finally, congratulations to a member of the WEC ‘family’ as Media Manager Rachel Steen and her husband Paddy became parents on Wednesday for the first time.
