Barwell Confirm Second GT World Challenge Line-Up

Reigning Pro-Am Cup Champion, Barwell Motorsport, has confirmed the second of its two line-ups for the 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season, as it targets further success in the Endurance Cup after another successful campaign in 2021.

This year the Surrey, UK-based team will be challenging for honours in the Endurance series’ new Gold Cup class, which features cars with Bronze-Silver-Gold driver line-ups.

Featuring in the #77 Amstutz Produkte-liveried Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo ‘Champions Car’ line-up are Lamborghini factory driver Sandy Mitchell (who won the British GT crown with Barwell in 2020) and Barwell’s 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Silver Cup title-winner Alex MacDowall. The Bronze driver seat in round one at Imola will be taken by Rob Collard, who won the British GT title with Sandy, and who also claimed Pro-Am victory with us in the 2020 Spa 24 Hours. Long-time Barwell man and former double Am Cup champ, Adrian Amstutz, will also be doing as many rounds as his business commitments allow after Imola’s season-opener.

Joining for the Spa 24 Hours blue riband event in July will be another Barwell champion, Patrick Kujala, who was MacDowall’s team-mate during their 2020 Silver Cup title-winning campaign. Barwell Motorsport will once again be supported by Black Bull Scotch Whisky, taking its support for the team into a fifth consecutive season. Additional support comes from Christophe Duchamp watches and Rozalex.

Mark Lemmer, Barwell Motorsport Team Principal, “It’s amazing to have so many former Barwell champions lining up in one car! It’s certainly an exciting line-up for the new Gold Cup class and I’m sure we will be seeing all these guys returning to the podium again in the GT World Challenge Endurance series.”
