RAM Racing will expand its GT3 programme this season by fielding two Mercedes-AMG GT3s in the full GT Cup Championship.
The Silverstone-based team has recruited the promising pairing of Mike Price and Callum Macleod to crew its first AMG GT3, with Ian Loggie dovetailing his British GT Championship commitments to handle the second car solo.
Price, from the New Forest, Hampshire, returns for a second GT Cup campaign this season, having shared a McLaren 570S GT4 with Macleod in the series last season. The pair scored a number of podium finishes and celebrated two victories on their way to third in the GTH Class standings.
Macleod, from Gloucester, is a long-standing member of RAM Racing’s professional driver roster, having racked up several seasons with the team as both a leading GT3 driver and coach. He is also a former British Formula Ford and European F3 Open champion.
Scotsman Loggie has already signed up for a full attack on the British GT Championship with RAM Racing, having finished as runner-up in the points last year. He has also scored back-to-back GT3 Pro-Am titles in the series. He will make his first GT Cup outings since 2013 to add to his mileage in the Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Mike Price said: “Stepping up from GT4 last season to GT3 in the Mercedes-AMG for 2022 is a thrilling progression for me and a real challenge that I relish. I am very fortunate to have Callum racing with me, he is a top pro and a superb coach and it’s a huge bonus to have RAM Racing as our team for this year. Callum Macleod said: “It’ll be an exciting season stepping up to GT3 with Mike in the GT Cup, and it’s definitely a move he’s ready for. I’ve been working with Mike since he first drove a GT4 car a few years ago and his progression, especially last season, was incredible. There will be an adaption process moving from GT4 to the extra power, grip and aero of the GT3, but I have no doubts that he’ll get on top of it very quickly. In my mind, there’s no better team on the grid than RAM Racing, so we know we’ll have the machinery to do the job. We hope we have the package to be in the fight for podium finishes right from the start of the year.”
Ian Loggie said: “I’m really happy to be adding the GT Cup to my already busy 2022 season, it’s going to be quite a year! I haven’t raced in the GT Cup for quite a few years, but I know it’s grown into a highly competitive series with big grids. In GT racing seat time is king, so for me, this programme is a great chance to gain extra experience of the AMG GT3 around my British GT commitment, which is my main focus this year. Obviously, I’m out to give it my best, so if that brings some silverware along the way, then that would be an added bonus.”
RAM Racing team manager Dan Shufflebottom added: “We’ve been keen to add a second GT3 programme around our British GT Championship plans, and the GT Cup fits in perfectly this year. Mike and Callum already have a great racing-coaching relationship, and I have no doubt that Mike will adapt quickly to the AMG GT3, whereas Callum is well known to us and there’s no questioning his quality as a racer. For Ian this is a chance to maximise his seat time. He’s fully focused on fighting for the British GT crown this year and extra time in the car will only aid him toward that goal. Driving solo will be a challenge, but I know he’ll be keen to add a few pieces of GT Cup silverware along the way.”
Ginetta G56 For Century Pairing
Alex Stevenson and James Kellett are set to return to compete in the GT Cup in four races this season. This will be the third year the duo take part in the GT Cup with Century Motorsport, but this year brings something exciting; in the form of the all-new Wheldrake Classic Cars Ginetta G56.
The Warwickshire based team are busy preparing for another year the GT Cup, which they have been taking part in, on and off with great success and many podiums since 2016.
Last year saw Stevenson and Kellett in their first full season together, with fantastic results. Achieving an impressive third place in the GTA Class and stepping on the podium six times throughout the season. This coming after their first year where they also came third which, considering they only competed in four rounds that year, was a great result!
This 2022 season will see them moving to the GTB Class GT Cup Championship, along with the new more powerful G56, is giving them fresh determination on achieving even greater success this year.
Stevenson: “I’m delighted to be racing again with Century in the GT Cup this year and am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the new car. This will be the third season that James and I have raced together and it’s going to be a busy one, with James also racing the new G56 in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup”.
Kellett: “Really looking forward to another year of GT Cup racing alongside Alex in the all-new Wheldrake Ginetta G56 Supercup. Coming off the back of a strong year last year I’m confident we can hit the ground running for the 2022 season. With the new G56 having a 500hp V8 powering it I can’t wait to get in the mix with some of the fastest cars on track.”
Team Principal Nathan Freke: “It’s great to be returning with Alex and James for their 3rd season with us in GT Cup. After last year’s success, it’s exciting to be debuting the new Ginetta G56 Supercup spec car and moving up a class.”

The GT Cup fits really well for Alex. It’s the perfect blend of a professional championship but a very family feel to it and we always enjoy the weekends.”
The opening round of the GT Cup is taking place on the 9th-10th April at Donington Park.
