Cool Racing/ CLX Motorsport Adds LMP3 For Asian Le Mans Series

Cédric Oltramare confirmed for LMP3 debut

Cool Racing/ CLX Motorsport has confirmed that their 2023 Asian Le Mans Series entry will be boosted by an LMP3 class effort with a Ligier JS P320. Young Swiss racer Cédric Oltramare, will step up from a successful campaign with the team in the Ligier European Series this season to make his debut in the LMP3 class.

The Ligier joins the already announced #37 ORECA 07, driven by Alexandre Coigny and Malthe Jakobsen in LMP2.

It is a first entry into the Asian Series from the team and the squad hopes to continue a run of success that saw them finish as runners-up in the 2021 European Le Mans Series LMP3 championship, a Championship they currently lead in 2022. The team also showed well in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, with a victory at Imola and another at Road To Le Mans.

Cédric Oltramare is the first driver confirmed in the program and is already part of the COOL Racing team in the Ligier European Series, having won in Monza a few weeks ago. The 20-year-old Swiss driver, who made his racing debut last season, will be discovering the LMP3 class. He got his first taste of the Ligier JS P320 during a testing session in July.

“I enjoyed discovering the prototype and my first test was positive with consistent progress.” explains Cédric. “Moving to LMP3 is the logical next step from Ligier European Series and I can’t wait to racing in the Asian Le Mans Series. Of course, it will be very different, but it’s a nice championship with a chance to be on track on several occasions, on two different circuits. It’s perfect for me to get my bearings. I can also count on the team’s experience, who are the top reference in the class, and the other drivers within the team.”

“As with Malthe, who will move from LMP3 to LMP2, Cédric is getting ready to move to the next level,” confirms Nicolas Lapierre, Team Principal. ” This follows our philosophy of giving young drivers the chance to evolve step by step. Cédric showed good promise during his first test. In the #17, the idea is to have him gain experience and to accompany him. In any case, we’re happy to be able to enter two prototypes in Asian LMS, with high hopes for LMP2. Until then, we must succeed in the second part of our season in Europe, where we have big objectives in all categories.”

After the summer break, COOL Racing / CLX Motorsport will return to competition in Barcelona at the end of August, with an ORECA 07 in LMP2 and two Ligier JS P320 in LMP3.
