Robert Megennis will join the #42 NTE/ SSR Lamborghini GTD entry replacing Don Yount as the team restructure to get around the issue that three of their initial squad could not qualify to race at night with the Huracan requiring a major rebuild after accident damage earlier yesterday (this was the car at 8 pm yesterday during the night session!)
A team statement explains:
“IMSA requires that all drivers that will be running night stints in the 24 hours partake in the practice 3 night session. Jaden Conwright, Alessio Deledda, and Don Yount were all waivered due to experience, however, Kerong Li was not and will not be able to drive night stints.
“Don Yount had told the team that he preferred to run his sessions during the day, however with Kerong now unable to run night stints it would place Don in the car well past sunset.
“Always being the team player Don is, he has decided to step aside for the 24 and place Robert Megennis in the car to help the team pick up pace in the evening. The truest form of a gentleman. We’re excited to get Robert behind the wheel, and ever thankful to Don for always putting the team first.”
