The centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is almost upon us, with the ACTUAL centenary having passed on 26 May.
It’s an event that has huge emotional significance for a very large number of people.
To race fans who have never attended it is almost certain to be pretty close to the top of a bucket list – for those lucky enough to have seen the race live there are other emotions – the buzz of being at a truly world-class event, the amazing feeling of being their to witness a race that emerges as one of the greats.
More than anything though it is the moments, the happenings, that inevitably come through on-track and off to elevate any event to the category of legendary!
We’ll be looking to capture a little of that in the lead-up to track action at Le Mans in this very special year with a number of features that drill deep into the personalities, the races, and the background happenings that have made the world’s greatest race truly special for us here at DSC in the 22 years that we have been covering the race – plus the 6 years our predecessor sites were on-site for the race!
From Scrutineering and through to and beyond the checkered flag we’ll be on-site as usual grabbing news, views, images and analysis of whatever happens on the circuit, and much of what is going on in the background too.
And we’ll continue to do it with the tone we always have – giving all involved the respect we believe they deserve – but treating the human side of the sport with due deference where appropriate – and having a little bit of fun along the way!
