The Super Taikyu Organisation (STO) has published its 2024 provisional calendar for the Eneos Super Taikyu Series Supported by Bridgestone.
Sportsland Sugo will host the opening round of the championship for the first time since 2013 (an event that was ultimately cancelled due to snowfall). The first official pre-season test will be held at Sugo in March, while round one of the 2024 season will take place on 21 April.
The Sugo round will consist of two three-hour races on the same day – this format will also be used later in the year at Okayama International Circuit.
Following that, preparations will begin for the annual running of the Fuji Super TEC 24 Hours, the series’ crown jewel event in its seventh consecutive year (ninth in total). The 2024 edition will be held from 25-26 May 2024, with a pre-event test scheduled for late April.
Suzuka Circuit will host the fifth round of the championship this year, with the five-hour race scheduled for 29 August; this race will follow the five-hour race in Autopolis on 28 July, and Mobility Resort Motegi on 8 September.
The season will conclude with the penultimate double-header round at Okayama on 27 October, and the season finale which will be held at Fuji on 17 November.
Formats and distances for the Motegi round and the final round at Fuji will be confirmed at a later date.
The 2024 season will be the first year of a new three-year contract with Bridgestone to be the series’ official tyre supplier. Bridgestone took over as the tyre supplier of Super Taikyu during the 2023 season when Hankook withdrew from the series – and several other racing championships – after a destructive fire at the Hankook manufacturing plant in Daejeon, South Korea.
Super Taikyu has seen considerable growth in its ST-Q class, a manufacturer-supported category used to test alternative energy solutions for motoring and motorsport, as well as a test bed for prototypes of future customer racing vehicles.
