Deitz’s Lambo livery revealed
The striking livery that Adrian Deitz’s brand-new Lamborghini Huracan EVO2 GT3 will sport at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 12 Hour has been revealed (featured).
To be shared with Tony D’Alberto, David Wall and Grant Denyer, Deitz’s new scheme represents an evolution of the existing, BASF / Le Mans-inspired livery that has become a hallmark of the team of late.
Designed by Sydney-based visual artist Jason Christopher, the livery continues the same theme as the existing car with a fresh approach and design for 2024.
The car was shown off at a Wall Racing ride day held at Sydney Motorsport Park, the first on-track exercise for the car since its recent arrival in Sydney.
“We are very aware of the popularity of our livery; it’s so well known here and even internationally,” Deitz said when the car arrived in Australia.
“I’ve been reluctant to change it, but we also wanted to recognise that we are moving into the new car.
“I think the concept we’ve developed in collaboration with Jason Christopher, a leading visual artist and designer from Belly of the Beast, is really exciting and acknowledges the history and evolution of the livery.
“Le Mans has had a long tradition of ‘Art cars’ and this is our Bathurst version!”
Porsche raises 911 thousand Euros
To mark 75 years of Porsche sports cars, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer initiated an extensive fundraising campaign during the Le Mans 24-hour race: For each of the race lap completed by the three factory Porsche 963 racers, 750 euros went into a special fund in support of the “Racing for Charity” campaign.
The Porsche Penske Motorsport hybrid prototypes completed a total of 733 laps at the 100th anniversary of the world’s largest endurance event. On the occasion of its anniversary, Porsche topped up the donated amount of 549,750 euros to 911,000 euros. The money went to three charitable organisations.
“While my overall assessment of the Porsche 963’s debut year in its international campaign is positive, we’re not satisfied,” said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport.
“We’d set ourselves a massive programme for 2023. We took on two of the largest endurance series in the world with two works cars and pulled together a completely new operational structure in collaboration with Team Penske. On top of that, we built, delivered and supported four customer vehicles in the first year.
“Our learning curve over the past few months has been steep and I’m sure that with these experiences we will achieve the goals we’ve set ourselves for next season. Porsche belongs at the top. We’re determined to continue to pursue this path.”
Radford introduces new Type 62-2 Track Car Edition
Following its victory in the Exhibition Class win at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Radford Motors has taken the wraps off its new Type 62-2 Track Car Edition.
With a limited production run of only 12, the new track-only machine represents a custom coach-built racer engineered for track day thrills, evoking Tanner Foust’s record-breaking time of 09:37.326 up Pikes Peak.
It boasts multiple improvements on the road-going version, with a full carbon composite monocoque, an updated underbody design, revamped subframes, a fresh suspension system, and a newly integrated rear airfoil. Each Track Edition car is capable of producing up to 710 horsepower, and a 0-60 mph time in under 2.2 seconds with a remarkable top speed of 160 mph.
With commissions from Radford Motors starting at $1 million, each 710-hp bespoke Type 62-2 Track Car is a race-ready work of art made in the same grand tradition of Harold Radford’s celebrated British coachbuilding company founded in 1948.
“As a coachbuilder, Radford revels in creating one-off cars. Each bespoke to client wishes in terms of build and performance. Our Pikes Peak-winning car this year was the first example of our new Type 62-2 Track Edition car. A single-seat weapon born to tame the mountain,” comments F1 Champion and Radford Motors co-founder Jenson Button.
“The Pikes Peak car received an additional cooling package to combat the overheating risks at altitude as well as a F1 engineered aero to keep the car planted. Tiptronic controls at the steering wheel and an increased turning circle to tackle the bends and curves of Pikes Peak all combined to not only allow us a class win, but to set a new class record. Quite the debut.”
In addition, anyone who commissions a bespoke Type 62-2 Track Edition will receive an opportunity to work with Radford Motors to field their car in a specific, special race such as Pikes Peak or The Hillclimb at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed.
ISR becomes the first team to commit to the 2024 GT Open
Čestlice-based GT3 team ISR Racing has become the first team to officially announce its participation in the 2024 International GT Open season, with an Audi R8 LMS for Libor Milota and Filip Salaquarda.
The team’s Audi will be entered in the Pro-Am class with an all-Czech entry. It has already started testing at the Slovakiaring.
“I’m really looking forward to the whole season! It is a huge challenge for me, and of course a lot of work as well, but I believe that with humility, the support of a great team, and step by step, we will enjoy the season. I’m looking forward to beautiful circuits, great competitors, and an amazing atmosphere!” Said Milota.
