Inter Europol by PR1 Mathiasen Motorsport has made a late driver change the afternoon before the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona.
Pietro Fittipaldi, who raced for Inter Europol Competition in the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans and European Le Mans Series, has been drafted in to replace Clement Novalak.
Novalak was set to make his IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship race debut this weekend, but during Practice 4 earlier today, he suffered a pit-lane incident that left him with injuries to his leg and hip.
A representative of the team told DSC that Novalak’s injuries were not serious, but will leave him unable to race.
Fittipaldi raced a partial LMP2 campaign with Rick Ware Racing last season, running Daytona, Sebring, and Watkins Glen. He is set to race in the IndyCar Series full-time with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
UPDATE: Despite the change of drivers, the #52 ORECA 07 will start from second on the LMP2 grid with Nick Boulle at the wheel to open the race.
