Ried back in action
Proton Competition team boss Christian Ried is set to return to the cockpit this weekend for a one-off appearance in the #88 Mustang LMGT3 in place of Giorgio Roda.
As a result, his name is back on the side of a WEC car for the first time since the 2023 season finale in Bahrain.
He will share the car with full-season drivers Mikkel Pedersen and Dennis Olsen.
Livery changes and tweaks
There are a handful of cars that have changed livery for this race, or reverted back to colours used pre-Le Mans.
At WRT, both its M4 LMGT3s will run with their third set of colours this season. Both cars ran one-off liveries at Le Mans, and are present in Brazil with another change, both cars looking eye-catching the #31 in red and the #46 in black.
WRT’s M Hybrid V8s will also both run in factory colours this weekend after the #20 ran in an ‘Art Car’ livery at Le Mans last month.
The Iron Dames Lamborghini, which also ran with a special colour scheme at La Sarthe, reverts back to its usual pink design too.
Ferrari update
The Ferrari 499Ps, which have been updated for this weekend’s race with new brake cooling ducts, are present.
Visually the changes are very subtle!
Fan Village
After the races at Imola and Spa saw record-breaking crowds, another huge crowd for a WEC race outside of Le Mans is expected this weekend in Brazil.
The size of the fan village appears to be an indication! It’s a huge area on the infield with plenty of stands from manufacturers, a Ferris wheel and a concert stage.
