IMSA President John Doonan today revealed fully subscribed full-season entry lists for both the WeatherTech Championship and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup in 2025 as part of the annual State of the Sport presentation at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
A total of 48 entries have been confirmed for the full WeatherTech Championship season, with 56 entries slated to compete in the five Michelin Endurance Cup rounds.
In addition, January’s season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona is expected to have a field in excess of 60 cars when the entry list for that event is revealed in early December.
Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) – 11 Cars
IMSA’s top category sees growth for the third consecutive year with a total of 11 full-season entries and two additional teams committed for the Michelin Endurance Cup events.
Porsche Penske Motorsport, Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R, BMW M Team RLL and the returning Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/ Curb Agajanian will be back with two entries apiece.
Single, full-season entries are planned from Whelen Cadillac Racing, JDC-Miller MotorSports (Porsche) and the Heart of Racing Team (The new Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH).
Proton Competition (Porsche) and Lamborghini Iron Lynx are in for the Michelin Endurance Cup events.
Compared to 2024, for the full season, the entry has grown by from 10, with the addition of the brand new Heart of Racing Aston Martin and a third Cadillac, fielded by Wayne Taylor Racing.DSC believes there is the potential for a further addition to this entry. Proton’s Porsche, meanwhile, steps back from a full-season car alongside the Lamborghini.
Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) – 12 Cars
The LMP2 class also sees another increase in 2025 with all 12 of the entries in the class committed for the full WeatherTech Championship season, up from a 10-car full-season entry this year.
United Autosports USA returns with the lone, two-car entry in LMP2. Single entries are lined up for Algarve Pro Racing (formerly Crowdstrike by APR), Tower Motorsports, TDS Racing, Inter Europol Competition, Era Motorsport, PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports (back as an independent team after partnering with Inter Europol in 2024), Riley, AO Racing, Pratt Miller Motorsports (a new addition) and AF Corse.
Missing from the 2024 entry list is the MDK by High Class Racing ORECA (a full-season car this year), Sean Creech Motorsports’ part-season Ligier and the one-off ORECA from JDC Miller seen earlier in the season, whilst DragonSpeed – which completed three races in 2024 in LMP2 – has switched to GTD with its new Ferrari.
Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) – 9 Cars
Paul Miller Racing will expand from one to two GTD PRO cars in 2025 alongside established two-car programmes from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports and Ford Multimatic Motorsports.
Pfaff Motorsports (McLaren), Vasser Sullivan Racing and AO Racing also return with single-car efforts for the full WeatherTech Championship slate. This is the same number of cars for the full season as seen in 2024, the only change being Paul Miller fielding a second BMW and Heart of Racing pulling its GTD Pro Aston Martin to focus on its efforts in GTP and GTD.
Automobili Lamborghini will have a single-car effort for the Michelin Endurance Cup events.
Additional GTD PRO entries are expected for the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) – 16 Cars
The WeatherTech Championship’s longtime most populous class remains that way in 2025.
Full-season, single-car programmes are planned for AWA (Corvette), Conquest Racing (Ferrari), series newcomers DXDT Racing (Corvette), Forte Racing (Lamborghini), Gradient Racing (Ford), Inception Racing (Ferrari), Korthoff Competition Motors (formerly Korthoff/Preston, AMG), Turner Motorsport (BMW), Pilot Challenge graduate van der Steur Racing (Aston Martin), Vasser Sullivan Racing (Lexus), Wayne Taylor Racing (Lamborghini), Winward Racing (AMG), Wright Motorsports (Porsche), DragonSpeed (Ferrari), Heart of Racing Team (Aston Martin) and Triarsi Competizione (Ferrari).
The 16 cars listed above represents an increase on the 12 cars that have completed the full season in 2024. It includes new entries for the full slate from DragonSpeed and Wright Motorsports – who step up from part-season LMP2 and part-season Endurance Cup efforts respectively, as well as brand new efforts entirely from DXDT and van der Steur Racing.
Gone from the entry entirely are Proton’s Ford Mustang and the MDK Porsche, meaning MDK, after a multi-class entry in 2024, is not due to return at all in 2025 as it stands.
Additional Michelin Endurance Cup teams will include AF Corse with a pair of entries, Triarsi Competizione, Iron Dames and Lone Star Racing.
GTD also is expected to include additional Rolex 24-only entries.
