Ferrari has announced that it has handed a new multi-year contract to factory driver Antonio Giovinazzi. This deal will ensure he continues to compete with the brand in endurance racing and retain his role as a reserve driver for Scuderia Ferrari HP in Formula 1.
This comes after a successful start to the 2025 FIA WEC season for the Centenary Le Mans winner. Along with teammates Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado, Giovinazzi currently leads the FIA WEC Hypercar World Endurance Drivers’ Championship after wins at Imola and Spa and podium finishes at Qatar and Le Mans in the #51 499P.
To date, the 31-year-old Italian from Apulia has taken part in 20 World Endurance Championship races with Ferrari. Nineteen of those have come in the top class since 2023 as part of the 499P programme.
“Eight years ago, I began my adventure with Ferrari, which for me is much more than a team: it’s a family. Renewing today means continuing a challenge that gets me charged up every day, in an environment where people, teamwork and ambition matter,” Giovinazzi says.
“Being an official driver in the WEC and the third driver in Formula 1 is a commitment that I am honoured and excited to undertake. I want to thank Ferrari for their continued faith in me: growing in these team colours is truly special. I can’t wait for the next chapters of this story, which I will embark on with the commitment, passion and hunger for results that have always been part of me.”
His next race with Ferrari is the 6 Hours of São Paulo this weekend.
