Mahiki Racing has withdrawn its #68 McLaren GT3 Evo from this weekend’s British GT Championship finale at Donington Park following an accident during the final pre-event test session.
The paid test day took place on Thursday, 2 October, ahead of the final race meeting of the 2025 season.
The incident in question occurred during the third and final session of the day, which was held in dry conditions with the track considered to have low-grip levels.
Josh Miller, who moved up from one of Mahiki’s Ginetta G56 GT4 Evos in the GT4 category, was driving when he lost control of the new car at the downhill right-hand turn known as Hollywood corner.
Following him was Phil Keen in the #12 Team Parker Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4, who suffered damage to the left-rear of the team’s Endurance Cup machine, which will be repaired for this weekend’s finale.
In Mahiki Racing’s official statement on Instagram, Miller said:
“A mistake from me in practice yesterday means we will unfortunately be unable to take part in this weekend’s racing.
“I want to apologise to Steve [Lake], who now misses out on competing through no fault of his own, and to the team who put countless hours into preparing the car.
“I also want to say sorry to my family and sponsors, whose belief and investment in me make opportunities like this possible.
“I’d also like to extend my apologies to Phil Keen, who was caught up in the incident through no fault of his own, and to Ed McDermott, whose car suffered the consequences.
“This is a tough pill to swallow, but it’s one I’ll learn from – and I look forward to getting back behind the wheel with Steve soon.”
As Lake and Miller will no longer be able to race the #68 McLaren at this weekend’s Donington decider, Mahiki will instead focus on running its #69 and #88 Ginettas in GT4.
Team Parker Racing’s #12 Mercedes will be driven by teammates McDermott and reigning GT4 Pro-Am champion Seb Morris, the inaugural 2025 GT4 Endurance Cup champions.
Mahiki’s statement concluded: “We will be both on-track and off, racing and supporting our GT4 drivers through the final round, and we’re excited to finish this season and look toward 2026, where we are determined to campaign with a GT3 lineup with British GT and SRO.”
