Mercedes-AMG has won its seventh consecutive GT World Challenge Manufacturers’ title, after triumphing in a season-long battle with BMW and Porsche.
Entering last weekend’s season finale, GT World Challenge Australia’s GT Festival Hampton Downs, it was BMW who led the way with a 20-point advantage over the Silver Arrows.
However, the Bavarian marque, which won SRO’s GT4 Manufacturer Ranking last month, did not have any entries in GT World Challenge Australia this year, leaving it vulnerable to a late charge from Mercedes-AMG and its five GT3 EVOs from customer teams Tigani Motorsport, Black Wolf Racing, Mach 1 Engineering and 111 Racing.
The Affalterbach-based manufacturer picked up 18 points in Race 1, courtesy of a seventh-place finish from Mach 1 and eighth for the #66 Tigani entry, meaning getting a single car to the chequered flag in Race 2 was all that was required to secure the crown.
This was easily completed, as a podium finish for Tigani’s Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitini, alongside fifth for Mach 1’s Anthony Pedersen and Shane Smollen, yielded 25 points and won Mercedes-AMG the 2025 title by 1152.5 points to 1129.5.
Mercedes-AMG’s title defence was built off an incredibly consistent season, as the only manufacturer to finish in the points in all 53 scoring events. Its highest scoring race was October’s double-points Indianapolis 8 Hour, where it picked up 56 points for finishing second and sixth.
Behind the top two, the next positions were all set in stone before Hampton Downs. Porsche finished third, ahead of Ferrari, Audi Sport and Lamborghini.
Mercedes-AMG also won the Customer Performance Award, which considers class as well as overall position. This title was secured before Hampton Downs, with it eventually beating BMW by 23404.5 points to 22629. Porsche. Ferrari and Audi Sport again completed the top five, with Aston Martin sixth.
“I am incredibly proud that we are intercontinental manufacturers’ champions for the seventh time in a row,” said Christoph Sagemuller, the head of Mercedes-AMG Mototsport.
“This once again underlines the strength of our global Customer Racing programme, which is one of the best in the world. My thanks go to our international teams, who have once again demonstrated impressive consistency and determination to win.
“With our Mercedes-AMG GT3 and worldwide support, we lay the foundations in Affalterbach, and our Customer Racing Teams translate these into impressive successes. It’s a combination that makes me very confident about 2026 as well.”
