Three hours of racing around Circuit of the Americas boiled down to a frantic finish – as Random Vandals Racing’s Pro-Am duo of Sam Craven and Kenton Koch won the third annual GT4 Lone Star Enduro in their #94 BMW M4 GT4 EVO.
On Saturday afternoon, Westin Workman put the #68 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 on the pole position. Workman and Tyler Gonzalez swept both legs of the opening round at Sonoma Raceway, and RAFA Racing’s Silver class Toyota had also won last year’s Lone Star Enduro.
Early returns from this years race suggested a RAFA Racing repeat. Workman led from the drop of the green flag until the end of his opening stint, then handed the controls over to Gonzalez who maintained the advantage. Even after the stranded #21 ACI Motorsports BMW brought out a Full Course Yellow which erased Gonzalez’s six-second lead, the #68 Toyota was able to drive away from the pack.
But during RAFA Racing’s second pit stop, the team had to address a transponder issue that cost the #68 Toyota over 30 seconds in the pit lane. Workman got back in the car but was mired down in tenth place overall.
‘P1’ overall then to the #51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW of Francis Selldorff, but Luca Mars in the #028 RS1 Porsche 718 GT4 RS Clubsport overtook Selldorff into turn 12 to take the lead with about 70 minutes to go.
After the final round of routine pit stops, the #51 BMW, now driven by Kevin Boehm, used the overcut to get out ahead of the #028 Porsche, now driven by Spencer Pumpelly, but once again Pumpelly took RS1 to the lead with a pass at turn 12.
But it was a move down at turn eight with less than ten minutes remaining which flipped the script: Boehm made a lunge up the inside of Pumpelly and broadsided the Porsche, pushing Pumpelly off the racing line and causing him to lose several spots. Koch, who was leading a four-car train of Pro-Am challengers, drove through into second place, and then capitalised on Boehm’s lost momentum to take the overall lead into turn 11.
Koch took the win by just under two seconds from the #47 NOLASPORT Porsche of Matt Travis and Matheus Leist in second place. With the win, Craven and Koch also took the Pro-Am points lead, with 75 points, to Travis/Leist’s 73.
On the road, Selldorff and Boehm finished third. But after the race, the #51 was given a 41-second time penalty for incident responsibility, knocking the AutoTechnic duo down to 13th overall and fifth in the Silver class.
That elevated the #25 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Damir Hot and Ryan Yardley to third place overall, and in fourth, the #028 RS1 Porsche of Mars and Pumpelly was awarded the Silver class win.
In the revised classification, the #90 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW (Jonathan Perichon/Gregory Liefooghe) was fifth, ahead of the #38 BimmerWorld BMW (Michael Petramalo/Tyler McQuarrie), and the #03 Precision Racing LA Toyota (Karl Forman/Ryan Eversley) in seventh. The #98 Random Vandals BMW (Bruno Colombo/Josh Green) finished eighth overall and took second in Silver.
BimmerWorld’s #36 BMW driven by James Clay and James Walker Jnr finished ninth overall and took the Am class victory, even after serving a 30-second time penalty in the pits for a pit stop infringement. This is Walker Jnr’s third straight Lone Star Enduro class win for BimmerWorld – he and Tyler McQuarrie had won back-to-back races in Pro-Am in 2024 and 2025.
Workman and Gonzalez salvaged a Silver class podium and retained the points lead in their class, but the #68 RAFA Toyota finished down in 10th overall.
The Am podium was completed by the #72 RAFA Toyota (Rafael Martinez/Anthony Geraci) and the #413 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW (Kris Wilson/Zach Lumsden). Though the #188 Random Vandals BMW (Denny Stripling/Judson Holt) retired with less than 30 minutes to go, Stripling and Holt still lead the Am class standings after three races.
