While much of the sports car racing world is away preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge hosts its second four-hour endurance race of the season as the headlining act at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Sunday, 7 June.
The field for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 4 Hours of Mid-Ohio consists of 46 cars: 30 in GS (GT4) and 16 TCR cars, with several teams deploying three drivers.
Turner Motorsport, Dillon Machavern and Francis Selldorff won last year’s Mid-Ohio race; this weekend Machavern and reigning series champion Luca Mars return to Mid-Ohio as the GS championship leaders in their #95 BMW M4 GT4 EVO. Machavern and Mars are coming off a win at the most recent MPC event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Some noteworthy changes include the addition of Kingpin Racing’s #53 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, making its first MPC start of the season, and the return of BGB Motorsports’ #83 Porsche 718 GT4 RS Clubsport. Veteran driver Mike Skeen hops into the #60 KOHR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 for this race, and for the remainder of the season.
In TCR, Preston Brown and Denis Dupont have been the kings of the four-hour enduro lately; they’ve won three of the last five long-distance races in their #76 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR, and look to make it four wins in six.
They currently sit second in the TCR standings behind the #33 BHA Hyundai of Mason Filippi and Bryson Morris, who won the last round at Laguna Seca.
Michelin Pilot Challenge teams will have two practice sessions – one on Friday afternoon and another on Saturday morning – leading into Qualifying on Saturday afternoon. Sunday’s four-hour race starts at 12:15 PM ET (local time), streaming live on the official IMSA YouTube channel.
