Practice 1 for Mustang Challenge North America at Mid-Ohio saw Cole Loftsgard’s #42 Round 3 Racing machine top the timing sheets with a time of 1:29.527, 0.434 seconds ahead of the next fastest car, Sandy Satullo in the #7 Wheelhouse Motorsports car, with a 1:29.961.
Loftsgard logged his time in his second-to-last lap of the session, with track temperatures rising in Lexington, Ohio, as the practice went on. Reigning Laguna Seca victor Devin Anderson finished the session third fastest in the low 1:30.0s, followed closely by second-time entrant Nolan Allaer for Spark Performance with a 1:30.171.
In Dark Horse Legends, series newcomer and Mustang Cup USA driver Dave Luaces went quickest with a 1:32.054 in the #37 Birdhouse Racing machine. Joe Koenig for Round 3 Racing went second fastest, just 0.072 off of Luaces’s time, followed by Paolo Salvatore in the #84 Torre Racing car.
Practice 2 saw Nolan Allaer’s #3 Spark Performance car go quickest, his lap the first into the 1:28s for the Dark Horse Rs this weekend with a 1:28.808, 0.2 seconds quicker than Sandy Satullo in the Wheelhouse Motorsports car. Cole Loftsgard was third fastest on track this session, lapping in the 1:29.2s, the whole field improving on their times earlier this morning.
Chris Clarke was the fastest of the Dark Horse Legends class this time, with a 1:31.121, followed closely behind by Paolo Salvatore in second and Practice 1’s quickest Dave Luaces in third.
Qualifying starts at 9:40 AM ET tomorrow morning, with Race 1 taking the green flag later on at 1:55 PM ET.
