The #84 Red Bull Abt Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, which finished second in last month’s Nürburgring 24 Hours, has been disqualified from the event for a technical infringement.
The car was found post-race to be out of compliance with its designated Balance of Performance, with it exceeding its power limit when tested on a dynometer.
Mirko Bortolotti, Luca Engstler and Patric Niederhauser had completed an impressive comeback drive, salvaging second after picking up a puncture on the opening lap of the race.
The decision means that the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo of Mattia Drudi, Nicki Thiim and Christian Krognes is promoted to second, with ROWE Racing’s #99 BMW M4 GT3 Evo of Sheldon van der Linde, Dan Harper, Max Hesse and Dries Vanthoor inheriting the final spot on the podium.
Red Bull Team Abt has elected not to appeal the decision.
