23 Provisional Entries For GT World Challenge Road America

Several new and returning entries bolster the field for Sunday's three-hour race

GT World Challenge America powered by AWS returns to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin this weekend, headlining a full slate of SRO racing from 28–30 August as the American, European, and Asian World Challenge series are all in action.

The provisional entry list for GT World America at Road America features 23 cars which are expected to race on Sunday, including several new and returning entrants.

Out of the Ferrari camp, there are two first-time competitors: HP-Tech Racing and Tony Davis, regular competitors in the GT America sprint series, step up with their #04 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo. Davis will be joined by Scott Andrews, who brings over ten years of GT3 and LMP3 racing experience with him. The Australian won his class at the 2021 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

The other new entrant is Scuderia Corsa, which is best known for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in GTE Am ten years ago, along with three IMSA championships. The Las Vegas-based team has run select GT America rounds, and in its first GT World Challenge race, it’ll enter the #67 Ferrari for Mitchell Green and Jon Morley, adding a second car to the Am class.

Meanwhile, Triarsi Competizione returns after sitting out the June race at Road Atlanta, with Sebastian Mascaro and Riccardo Agostini behind the wheel of the #18 Ferrari.

Also returning to the series is Chicago Performance & Tuning and its #64 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. The team hasn’t competed since the opening round of the season due to scheduling conflicts for its driving crew of Nicholai Elghanayan and Mads Siljehaug.

There are also two teams changing drivers this weekend: Frederik Schandorff’s commitments in GT World Challenge Europe at the Nürburgring will see 24 Hours of Le Mans overall winner Miguel Molina step into the #12 AF Corse USA Ferrari to partner Matias Pérez Companc.

At RS1, Canadian driver Danny Dyszelski replaces JP Martinez in the #28 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driving alongside Heylen in a Pro-Am class entry.

Heading into the weekend, the Pro class title is still up for grabs with three races remaining. JMF Motorsports’ Michai Stephens and Mikaël Grenier carry a narrow seven-point lead over AF Corse’s Pérez Companc, but all five teams are separated by just 26 points.

In Pro-Am, GMG Racing’s Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent come into Road America with a 12-point lead over fellow Porsche customer Wright Motorsports’ #31 car of Dave Musial Jnr and Ryan Yardley. Sargent also has a big lead in the SRO GT Academy standings for the American region, and is close to clinching an invitation to next year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

As has been the case all season, Chouest Povoledo Racing’s Corvette (which is the 24th provisional entry) will only participate in practice while prioritising its GT America campaign.
