Rossi Set To Remain Silver After Driver Categorisation Review

Following the initial release of the provisional 2027 FIA Driver Categorisation list at the beginning of this month, various drivers have had their rating changed as reviews unfold.

Most notably, provisional changes to the rankings of Valentino Rossi and Dustin Blattner have been reversed. This means that Rossi will remain Silver in 2027, with Blattner staying as a Bronze.

Elsewhere, several drivers have successfully earned downgrades. Ryan Dalziel, Paul Holton and Kyle Marcelli have been changed from Gold to Silver, whilst GT World Challenge Europe regular Chris Froggatt has been moved from Silver to Bronze.

Additional drivers have also been placed under review for a potential change, but this will take place after the 2027 season. IMSA LMP2 racer Hunter McElrea and two-time European Le Mans Series LMGTE Am Drivers’ champion Nicolas Armindo are being assessed for changes away from Silver, likely to Gold and Bronze respectively.

Former FIA Formula 3 driver Louis Sharp’s Silver grading has been placed under investigation, as has 2026 Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 runner-up Oscar Ryndziewicz’s Bronze rating.

The majority of the initial provisional changes for 2027, as well as select other drivers, also remain under review.
