Drawing strands of various stories together is always a rather involving process and the opportunity to do that today was given with confirmation of the timing, and location, of the announcement of the 2016 Ford GT WEC driver squad.
That’s set to take place on 5 January at the team’s new operating base at Greatworth Park near Banbury.
That location may be familiar to many race fans, and to not a few in the industry, as the home for Triple Eight Racing. Part of the site has been occupied for some time by Appleby Engineering and now, DSC understands, Triple Eight have moved out altogether, to new premises nearby which have been specifically fitted out to support their ongoing Touring Car activities.
The new Triple Eight premises will not though be accommodating any GT race activity, at least in the short term. That Triple Eight programme has now ceased and the pair of BMW Z4 GT3s have moved to another team, the cars remaining though in the ownership of Lee Mowle.
Their new home is with AMD Tuning, ironically also BTCC entrants with the proprietor Shaun Hollamby running a VW Golf and latterly a Ford Focus and Audi S3.
There’s no news just yet of the racing plans for 2016 for the BMWs.
