Creventic Decide Not To Invite Scuderia Praha To Mugello Race

Scuderia Praha will not be invited by Creventic to the next race in the 24H Series (and seemingly thereafter) after the incident last night, when the team’s car was leading the Hankook 24H of Dubai that saw Matteo Cressoni in the #11 Ferrari 458 GT3, collide with the #51 Primus Racing Ginetta G50.

A brief announcement on Twitter just before the end of the race in Dubai said “Due to avoidable collisions during this and several races of 24H SERIES, #11 Scuderia Praha cannot join from next round on.”

That was later clarified with the following statement on the series website:

Official note regarding collision Scuderia Praha

Due to the accident (avoidable collision) during the Hankook 24H DUBAI, as well as several incidents in previous races or the 24H SERIES, organiser Creventic has decided team Scruderia Praha not to welcome in the next round of the 24H SERIES, the Hankook 12H ITALY-MUGELLO.

We would like to emphasize our philosophy to offer a platform for amateurs drivers and teams, to do their hobby: racing for fun. We expect all competitors to respect our sporting objectives and to adjust driving behaviour accordingly.

We hope to welcome Scuderia Praha again at the round after Mugello, the Hankook 12H ZANDVOORT.

The accident caused a 1 hour 11 minute Code 60 period, eliminated both cars and necessitated the cutting of the Ginetta’s roll cage to release Thomas Martinsson from the wreckage. (Picture from the Primus Racing Facebook Page)

Martinsson received multiple broken bones in the accident (6 broken ribs and a collarbone) and is undergoing treatment at a Dubai hospital.

The decision, not directly linked to any race stewards decision, has been taken by Creventic “as a message to the team that such driving behaviour is not acceptable.”

The Mugello race was set to see the racing debut for Scuderia Praha’s new Ferrari 488 GT3.
