IN2Racing – Preparing For Sebring
IN2Racing made its LMES debut at the last round of the LMES last
year, at Spa, since when the Stratford-upon-Avon based team has
been working flat out - getting its premises ready for a busy season
of GT racing, and preparing for its trip to Florida, for the Sebring
12 Hours.
“We
were out testing at Silverstone a week or so ago (February 18),”
says team manager Alec Dudfield. “Juan (Barazi) hadn’t
driven the Porsche since Spa last year, and we were testing another
driver in readiness for the LMES.”
It’s still slightly
too early to confirm plans for Europe in 2005, but with Juan Barazi,
Michael Vergers and Paul Warren lined up for Sebring (and the LMES),
and more drivers in the wings, it looks as though one RSR might
not be enough.
Juan Barazi
made his name last year with some flamboyant drives in his Porsche
917, in the LMES Classic races: that car was prepared by David Piper’s
team, IN2Racing having concentrated on keeping Barazi busy in Radicals.
“Running
the 917 this year would be a distraction,” says Alec Dudfield,
“so Juan will only race it at Silverstone.”
So now the focus is on
modern, GT Porsches, and with Sebring being such a significant event,
IN2racing has sensibly decided to seek some on-site support from
Kevin Jeannette’s Gunnar Racing. There’s an obvious
link between the teams: all things Porsche, and Porsche 917s.
More details to come
on LMES plans, “but we’re definitely doing the whole
series,” says Alec Dudfield.
New driver Paul Warren
raced in the Palmer Audi series last year, so he had a taste of
the LMES meetings, and wanted to move up for 2005.
“We crept into
the LMES almost unnoticed last year,” points out Alec Dudfield
– of the team’s maiden Porsche race at Spa.
But the white
Porsche won’t be white before long: with backing from the
Angolan People’s Party (!) and Omega Diamonds, IN2Racing is
going to have a very different look about it soon.
