Jota
& Zytek - Joint Venture For 2006
Sam
Hignett keeps popping up on these pages - but his 2006 plans have
been a little elusive, until now.
"Our mechanics
have been at the Zytek Engineering factory since the middle of March,"
confirms the Jota co-owner, "working on the build of the hybrid
car for Le Mans."
This is the
entry that was confirmed back in January, for Team Essex and Zytek
Engineering, to be driven by John Nielsen, Casper Elgaard and Philip
Andersen.
The revised
car - effectively half way towards a new LMP1 Zytek for 2007 - should
be out testing next week, with its race debut planned for the Spa
1000 km on May 14.
Jota's Zytek
chassis, which raced throughout 2004 and 2005, is now in the hands
of Creation Autosportif, so Hignett and his Jota crew are very much
involved with Zytek's plans, at least as far as Le Mans in June.
