FFSA - R1 - Nogaro

In the first qualifying session of the opening round of the FFFSA-GT championship on April 19, at Nogaro, southwest of France, Belgian Didier Defourny (photo) set the quickest time with the Larbre Viper, Luc Alphand's Maranello being second quickest. However, in the second qualifying session, Boris Derichebourg was the quickest driver, aboard the lead Belmondo Viper, and claimed the pole position for the race on Sunday.

dailysportscar.comBut it was the Porsche of Marc Sourd / Frédéric Dedours (Alméras Frères) that won the opening round of the FFSA-GT Championship. Rain fell just before the start but Sourd / Dedours chose to keep their slicks. That choice was the right. At the start, Defourny's Viper jumped ahead Alphand's new 550 Maranello and Alexander David's Viper.

But the rain stopped and most of the drivers came into the pits to change their tyres. Alexander David then had a serious accident, Malcher's Modena violently hitting the #86 Porsche which had spun: the safety-car came onto the track. Sourd / Dedours won the race ahead of Defourny / Goueslard (Larbre Viper) and Dumez / Blanchemain (Viper). In the N-GT class, the win went to Thévenin / Bornhauser with a Porsche.

There was then a dispute over the result - rather like the Brazilian GP affair.

The race report and the race result don't agree about the winner!!! - says Claude. Sourd / Dedours had apparently won the race but when the race was yellow, the safety car came onto the track ahead of Goueslard's Viper and not ahead of Sourd's Viper. So, Jack Leconte, Larbre Team Owner, made a 'request' after the race and today, the result seems to be:
1 Goueslard / Defourny Larbre Viper
2 Alphand / Policand 550 Maranello
3 Jarier / Alexander David Viper
4 Chateau / Makowiecki Porsche 911 GT2
5 Saviozzi / Dupard Viper
6 (!) Sourd / Dedours Porsche 911 GT2
The winners in N-GT would be Marques / Roux (Porsche 911 GT3 RS), ahead of Lesoudier / Derlot (Maranello) and Bornhauser / Thévenin (Porsche 911 GT3 RS).

There's a second race this afternoon (Monday) at Nogaro.
