Mil Milhas Pre-Qualifying, Saturday
It’s been an otherwise very quiet, pre-Christmas weekend for
sportscar news, but Saturday (December 17) saw the second day of
track action at the Autodromo José Carlos Pace (Interlagos).
By the end of the day, 20 cars had pre-qualified
for next month’s race.
Raul Boesel
and Beto Giorgi shared Capuava Racing Team's Mercedes CLK DTM and
finished at the top of the time sheet again. Alcides Diniz is in
negotiation with Toyota F1 test driver Ricardo Zonta and Stock Car
V8 champion Giuliano Losacco, to drive his DTM car. The Brazilian
gentleman driver drove his Lister Storm but it is not decided whether
it will race. The brand new Aston Martin DBR9 didn't practise because
the Capuava Racing Team hasn’t received any racing tyres yet.
The Stuttgart
Sports Car Porsche 911 GT3-RS was second fastest, with Ricardo Mauricio
driving. The Brazilian team used a Porsche bi-turbo engine.
The Brazilian
Endurance Champion and Mil Milhas 2005 winner, the Medley Genéricos
Audi TT DTM did not show because the Negrão's family team
doesn't agree with the organization’s handicap for this car.
They don't want to carry more 50 kg.
