There will be no Oak/ Onroak LMP1 for the 2015 season but the project is far from finished.
Jacques Nicolet told DSC yesterday that whilst Onroak had not secured the necessary partnership to progress the design and build of a bespoke LMP1 Coupe in time for next season, that he was “very close, and certainly closer than ever before” to securing just such a deal.
“If we can progress things well then we should be able to undertake a test and development programme later this year, just as we did with the Ligier in 2013 and into this year.”
The car is understood to be basically complete in design terms.
After counting out an immediate entry into the LMP3 market for 2015, Nicolet told DSC yesterday that Onroak would be assessing the LMP3 market in its first year, (Only Ginetta Juno have yet committed to building cars and with several sales for the Yorkshire built car on the order books already).
“We have a design but we would need to talk to the ACO about the cost cap to make this a realistic proposition.”
