T-Sport To File LMP3 Cup Entry

Ligier UK sells another JS P3

F3 team T-Sport has acquired a Ligier JS P3 from Ligier UK with the intention of competing in the inaugural LMP3 Cup Championship season this year.

In the past the team has competed in the FIA F3 European Championship and British F3, winning titles in the process.

“I’m very pleased to have finally been able to get our hands on a Ligier JS P3,” team principal Russell Eacott said. “I’ve admired the car for a long time now and have been looking at entering the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship since the series was announced last year.

“The championship and racing prototypes is a new direction for us but we are excited to get going. We are talking with drivers now about doing both the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship and the Michelin Le Mans Cup, so the package is definitely starting to take shape.”

“It’s great that T-Sport are making the move into prototype racing and entering the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship” added Ligier UK’s Richard Dean. “This championship is aimed at well-run, professional teams like T-Sport so to have them on the grid is fantastic.

“T-Sport are an established team and know what it takes to be successful so I’m sure they will have no difficulty finding drivers for this brand new British championship.”

The first round of the inaugural LMP3 Cup Championship season will be held at Donington Park on 22-23 April.
