Team Principal Elton Julian has confirmed exclusively to DSC that the 2017 ELMS Championship winning DragonSpeed squad will switch their LMP2 efforts, due to feature a single Oreca 07 Gibson apiece in both the ELMS and FIA WEC, to Michelin tyres.
That confirms both that the DragonSpeed team will run on Michelin tyres in both LMP1 (with their new Dallara built BR1 Gibson and that there will be tyre competition in the FIA WEC LMP2 class for the coming season after 2017 saw the class feature only Dunlop rubber on an all Oreca 07 full season grid.
The 2018/19 entry meanwhile will also see chassis variety with both Racing team Nederland (Dallara) and Larbre Competition (Ligier) joining the Championship.
Dragonspeed’s WEC LMP2 entry currently has Roberto Gonzalez as a confirmed driver with the team keeping their full season plans close to their chests.
The ELMS ORECA meanwhile will run with WEC LMP1 pairing Henrik Hedman and Ben Hanley joined by 2017 ELMS team-mate Nicolas Lapierre.
Racing Team Nederland also sampled the Michelin rubber at the same Motorland Aragon test but the team told DSC last week that they were yet to finalise their tyre choice for the season.
