A teaser video posted on Instagram Here makes it clear that Aurus, the Russian Limousine manufacturer responsible for the ‘Senat’ (pictured below), used as Presidential transport for Vladimir Putin and now available for private sale and, after an international launch at the Geneva Motor Show, for export too, is set to feature in sportscar racing.
The teaser, upon close investigation, very clearly includes an ORECA 07, and the soundtrack to the teaser sounds awfully like a Gibson V8. And the backdrop for the final shot (shown above) looks remarkably like a Paul Ricard garage!
Aurus is, incidentally, the OEM brand known to have been involved with a proposed, but soon after withdrawn, DPi project, Aurus are not present in the US marketplace.
In terms of the potential programme, it is safe to presume that the G-Drive Racing team are at the core of the proposal and indeed have been testing at Paul Ricard this week.
The final question still to be answered therefore is whether this is a sponsor-branding exercise or, as seems rather more likely, a rebranding of the ORECA chassis (as per Alpine!)
