Reigning Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 Champions Inter Europol Competition have confirmed that they will return to the Series in 2019/20 in the premier LMP2 class.
The Polish-flagged outfit will field at least one of their Ligier JSP217 Gibson cars in Asia with their second car also a possible entry in the first season when the 2017 spec Gibson engined cars will be eligible in the Asian Le Mans Series.
Kuba Smiechowski is one of the drivers, others will be named in due course.
Sascha Fassbender (Team Manager): “We are very happy to once again enter the Asian Le Mans Series. It was a pleasure to be part of this series last year and obviously, the result was fantastic too. We think it will be a much tougher season than the last one as there will be more cars. But that challenge is something we are already looking forward to.”
Inter Europol will compete at next month’s Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time after winning an automatic entry for their Asian LMS success.
In 2019 they are fielding a single Ligier LMP2, and a pair of LMP3s in the full European Le Mans Series.
Interest in the 2019/20 Asian Le Mans Series meanwhile is high, with a potentially major boost to LMP2 numbers, High Class Racing (2 x Dallara) and Carlin (1 x Dallara) have already publicly committed to the Series together with Eurasia (1 x Ligier) – DSC is aware of a number of other LMP2 teams currently evaluating programmes for either the Gibson-powered cars in the overall category and/ or with the pre-2017 cars which will still be eligible in the LMP2 Am category.
